На 24 април 2016 г. се навършиха 101 години от началото на погромите над арменците в Османската империя.

Със започналите на 24 април 1915 г. арести на стотици арменски интелектуалци (предимно в столицата Цариград) и тяхното избиване малко след това се слага началото на първия етап от изтребването на арменското население. 

Вторият етап от осъществяването на арменския геноцид е свързан с мобилизацията на близо 60 хиляди арменци в турската армия, които малко по-късно са обезоръжени и избити от своите турски „колеги”.

Третият етап на геноцида е белязан от убийствата на жени, деца и старци, от депортирането им към сирийската пустиня. По време на депортацията стотици хиляди са избити от турски войници и полицаи или от кюрдски разбойнически банди, други измират от глад и болести по пътя. Хиляди жени и деца са насилени. Десетки хиляди са насилствено помохамеданчени.

И накрая, последният етап от арменския геноцид – всеобщото и абсолютно отричане от страна на турското правителство на масовите депортации и унищожаването на арменския народ в собствената му родина. Въпреки продължаващия процес на международно признаване на арменския геноцид, Турция продължава да се бори против истината с всякакви средства, включително и чрез фалшифициране на историята, пропагандни кампании, лобиране и др.

Както всяка година пловдивските арменци проведоха шествие по пловдивските улици, за да напомнят на своите съграждани за годишнината. Отново не беше разрешено шествието да е по пловдивската главна улица, защото на 24 април 2016 г., пловдивските мюсюлмани се сетиха да почетат 1444 г. от рождението на пророка Мохамед. И то точно в джамията на главната улица.

От началото до края на шествието с нас беше зам. кметът на град Пловдив Георги Тютюков. Отново на финала пред  ДНА вълнуващо приятелско слово произнесе бившия кмет на града Спас Гърневски.

Огромната част от българските медии както обикновено запазиха мълчание за проявите. Нали Европа все повече уважава правоверните.

Добре че много обидчивият г-н Реджеп Ердоган изпрати писмо до главата на Арменската патриаршия в Истанбул Арам Атешиян, призоваващо да се загърби езикът на омразата и враждата. И така, покрай тази новина, все пак датата беше отбелязана в някои български медии.
