Данъчната политика на Люксембург стана причина коалиция от 76 дясно настроени евродепутати да внесе миналата седмица в Европейския парламент искане да бъде освободен от поста председателят на ЕК Жан-Клод Юнкер и цялата Европейска комисия. 

Поводът за този вот на недоверие са разкритията от мащабното разследване "Lux Leaks" на Международния консорциум на разследващите журналисти (ICIJ). Според това проучване данъчното законодателство на Люксембург по времето, в което Юнкер е премиер на херцогството, е позволило на стотици мултинационални компании да скрият своите печалби и да си спестят данъци. Като един от водещите финансови центрове Люксембург е "приютил"  най-малко 340 международни фирми, сред които са гиганти като Pepsi, Ikea и Deutsche Bank, както и инвестиционни фондове с почти 3 трилиона € в нетни активи. Тези компании плащат по-малко от 0,25% данък в Люксембург и нищо в държавата, в която са направени печалбите.

В свое изказване за пресата Жан-Клод Юнкер заявява, че въпреки че е министър-председател и министър на финансите в продължение на 19 години, той не е "архитектът" на люксембургския данъчен режим, който позволява на международните корпорации да спестяват милиони от данъци. В европарламента той подчертава подкрепата си за засилени мерки за борба с данъчните измами. 

По план от 2015 година Люксембург ще се присъедини към автоматизираната система на ЕС за обмен на информация между данъчните власти на страните-членки на общността. В свое изказване преди известно време настоящият финансов министър Пиер Грамена отбелязва, че страната му иска "да отхвърли имиджа си на черна овца". Това му изказване е преди скандала с "данъчните сделки" на правителството в Люксембург.

Дебатите по вота на недоверие в Брюксел са насрочени за днес, 24 ноември, а гласуването ще е в четвъртък. Условието да се проведе легитимно такова е 10% от членовете на Европейския парламент да подкрепят искането. За да бъде приет вотът, "за" трябва да гласуват поне 376 евродепутати. Като се има предвид, че Юнкер има подкрепата на Европейската народна партия и социалдемократите, двете най-големи групи в Европейския парламент, вотът на недоверие е малко вероятно да бъде успешен. Същинското гласуване по предложението за оставка на Европейската комисия е насрочено за същия ден, в който се очаква представянето на икономическа стратегия за развитието на евросъюза чрез влагане на 300 милиарда евро. Този инвестиционен план би трябвало да даде тласък на икономиката и заетостта в ЕС.
